Dear Treetops PatientsI wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our patients who have written a Google Review about Treetops. We are incredibly proud and excited to announce we are up to 282 Google Reviews and have gained 4.9 Star Rating!
Who would have thought years ago that online review platforms would be the ‘go to’ place for not only choosing restaurants and local businesses but also your Dental Surgery. The days of leafing through the Yellow Pages and Thomson Local Directories have disappeared and we now search for online patient or customer reviews to guide our decision making. As a practice we know this firsthand as our new patients share with us that they chose Treetops for a combination of reasons – recommendation mixed with Google Reviews. We thank each and everyone of you for your kind recommendations and reviews. In addition, our Google Reviews have been instrumental in team recruitment, ‘some’ candidates share that they have checked our online presence and reviews and these are a reason for applying to be part of our team! As you can imagine this is music to our ears, as it immediately illustrates that they care about the services we provide and most importantly about what our patients think’!
The below photographs are from our new ‘review’ cards which you will see attached to your appointment cards when you attend the practice. As a team, you will know that we are focused on delivering not just incredible dental solutions yet also an environment that makes you feel welcomed and cared for. We kindly ask, if you are happy with the care and treatment have received would you leave us a quick Google Review? This will continue to help with our team recruitment and will also help to attract patients like yourself, committed to their oral health and looking for a practice that can cater for their dental needs and long term dental care.
We also do acknowledge that on very rare occasions we may not have met your expectations so please if this is ever the case, do not hesitate to contact either myself or Kerrie our Reception Manager, this will allow us all to learn and develop the care and services we provide.
Wishing you all an amazing October and thank you again!

Steve, you are really one of a kind. We are so fortunate to have you on our team. Your humour, generosity and kindness is a constant source of motivation and inspiration, furthermore, your dedication and work ethics are exemplary.
It is a little known fact that Steve`s career at Treetops very nearly didn’t happen!. Steve tells us that on his way to be interviewed by the then Directors of the practice, Mr Holden, Mr Glover and Mr Williams, Steve accidentally ran into the back of an orange Lada on his moped! Unfortunately for Steve he ended up going over the handlebars and as he was wearing a suit rather than the correct clothing he broke his nose and cracked a few ribs. Luckily though, the lady he ran into was a patient and was on her way into the practice to see Mr Holden, so Steve was invited back in later on that week. Thankfully, he was offered the job. Steve thinks this may have been out of sympathy! …and the rest is history.
Steve has been making and repairing dentures and prosthetics for our patients with a smile and a joke ever since. Steve is the practice clown and always makes us laugh and keeps the team morale high with his antics and his team quizzes are legendary!
Thank you Steve, we wish you many more years of shenanigans (like the photo below)! |

Below is a fantastic example of how fixed braces with Dr Vis Pather totally transformed this patient’s profile and smile.
The patient presented with both an overjet and an overbite. An overbite is a vertical misalignment, while an overjet is a horizontal misalignment. In this case the patient presented with an overbite of 2mm and an overjet of 5mm with some slight overcrowding. It was decided that fixed metal braces in this case was the best option. And a year later we had the pleasure of signing our patient off with the treatment completed!
Well done Dr Pather and Nurse Simi, it is a WOW from us, these are fantastic results! |

Practice Manager Appreciation Month
The American Association of Dental Office Management (AADOM) state that September is Practice Manager Appreciation Month! We don`t usually celebrate this in the UK although we thought on this occasion we could dedicate a day towards our Practice Manager Louise.
There’s never been a better time to celebrate the hard work and dedication Louise shows us each day. Louise is an integral part of the Treetops Team and keeps our practice running smoothly like a well oiled machine. Louise has hired, trained, and motivated our team throughout all of the challenges life has thrown at us, both professionally and personally. Louise has not only done this with a smile but she has shown so much support and passion towards us all that we feel she deserves a special mention.
Thank you Lou……Its been a “Journey”! |

We do appreciate that life can sometimes get in the way and patients do not intentionally miss their appointments. September has seen 81 missed appointments equating to approximately 67.5 hours of lost clinical time.We would be most grateful if you could try and let us know as soon as you are able if you need to cancel an appointment with us, so we can give your appointment time to another patient that may desperately need to see us.
Thank you so much

Back in the early 80s once I had achieved a degree, life looked good. No more studying long into the night and as I was no longer a student I could start earning money to enjoy myself, oh the possibilities were endless…the world was my oyster! Those were the days where there was far less legislation, dentistry back then had very little responsibility. There were fewer checks and very few regulatory bodies, how professional you were depended on your dentists conscience and commitment to work. Treatments for some was not always in the patients best interests as it is today. Implants were in the experimental stages and no digital technology such as computers that makes treatment planning easier. Dental practices idea of a marketing strategy was largely restricted to a yellow pages and word of mouth. We also only had rudimentary ways of bonding fillings to teeth! We have also seen big advances in digital technology making treatments much more predictable and therefore reliable when planning. We now have digital microscopes making endodontics far more advanced than before, we have an Itero digital scanner negating the need for messy impressions, a CBCT scanner enabling us to take 3d scans, we even have LED lights on the handpieces we use. Of course none of which we had in the good old 80`s!
Thankfully dental treatments have come a long way in the last 40 years and improved a lot, for example we now have implants which have radically changed our ability to replace missing teeth, which gives far more options to the patient other than just a denture or a bridge. Also our ability to bond restorations to teeth which has meant we can save an awful lot more tooth tissue when restoring, which in turn helps teeth to last longer. With that said dentistry has made huge strides over the years towards the kind and caring environment that is more recognisable today, focusing more on preventative care rather than just patching up a tooth once its decayed.
I would like to say from my experience in my long career in dentistry there has been some fantastic changes in regards to technology and being more patient focused, but the jury is out on whether any of us like all the legislations! |

The theme for Employee of the month in September was `Colleague that makes the team laugh the most`.
We are pleased to announce the winner was……Nurse Simi Bassan! Below are just a few of the comments made by her teammates.
She does the Friday social media dances which are great!
She makes me crack up every time during lunch, she eases my stress!
No sense of shame!
Absolutely nuts, funny and caring all at the same time.
Great banter, always guaranteed to have a laugh, she makes the day fly by!Well done Simi! |

To end our newsletter we thought it would be remiss of us not to acknowledge the sad passing of our beloved Queen Elizabeth ll and to give thanks to the Queen for her long and remarkable reign over the last 70 years. The Queen gave our country her steadfast loyalty, her kindness and her grace, she truly was an exceptional and dignified leader. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
We share with you this poem below that we feel encompasses what our Queen stood for.Phillip came to me today,
and said it was time to go.
I looked at him and smiled,
as i whispered that “I know”
I then turned and looked behind me,
and saw I was asleep.
All my Family were around me,
and I could hear them weep.
I gently touched each shoulder,
with Phillip by my side.
Then I turned away and walked,
with ‘My Angel’ guide.
Phillip held my hand,
as he lead the way,
to a world where Kings and Queens
are Monarchs every day.
I was given a crown to wear
or a Halo known by some.
The difference is up here,
they are worn by everyone.
I felt a sense of peace,
my reign had seen its end.
70 years I had served my Country,
as the people’s friend.
Thank you for the years,
for all your time and love.
Now I am one of two again,
in our Palace up above.
