Dear Patients

We all hope that you have had a lovely May and are looking forward to a sunny and warm June.  It feels like such a long time ago that the team were sitting in the garden enjoying their lunch breaks!

The media is awash with articles about the increase in the cost of living and how this is, or could affect people’s lives over the coming months and year.  Reevaluating our personal finances is something currently high on people’s lists and finding more cost effective solutions is, as common a conversation, as chatting about the weather at the moment!  I myself was aghast at receiving my annual pet insurance renewal for our lovely Boxer dog, it had increased by £321.28 and we had no claims for the past 3 years!  We called the company and increased our excess, yet made the decision to keep him insured and wow how pleased we are we did!  Within the first week of our renewal they found a lump which needed removing, quoted £950 and the following week he had an accident which needed weekend out of hours emergency treatment to the tune of £650!  This means we have already claimed well over our annual fees within the first 2 weeks, we couldn’t believe it!

We wanted to assure our patients that as a practice we have always been focused on offering our patients choices and now more than ever our dental plans are in high demand as they are the most cost effective private option for receiving treatment at Treetops and also allow patients to spread the cost on a monthly basis.  We want to reassure you that we are still inviting patients to join our Denplan options and if you have not received an invite please do contact the reception team to find out more.  To give you an idea of the great savings involved please see our illustration below:

In times of economic uncertainty dental health professionals worry that patients will put their dental health as a low priority, increasing their chances of more severe dental problems, health problems and undiagnosed mouth cancer and sadly this will be the case. We do not witness this at Treetops, actually quite the opposite as over the past 6 months our new patient enquiries are at an all time high.  We must thank our current patients as it is your recommendations and your 5 star google reviews that are the source of the majority of our enquiries.  We do however, feel a sense of responsibility to continue to spread the word to those patients who put off visits to the dental practice, as regular assessments allow clinicians the opportunity to spot problems early, especially mouth cancer where early detection boosts chances of survival from 50% to 90%!

As always we thank you for your loyalty to Treetops, if you wish to accept our invitation to join one of our dental plans, please call the reception team, in the meantime we wish you a wonderful June.

Kind regards

Louise

Three reasons to visit a dental practice regularly….

Dental problems – Whether this is tooth or gum related both can result in the loss of teeth yet when addressed early, the treatment protocols are less invasive, the success rate much higher and the cost of treatment less expensive.

Health problems – There is a strong link between good oral health and a person’s overall well-being. The condition of your teeth and gums can impact just about every system in your body, including circulatory, digestive, reproductive and respiratory systems. Maintaining good oral health can help reduce your risk of serious health problems.

Mouth Cancer – Early detection dramatically increases the chances of survival, but most oral cancers are not discovered until later stages. Don’t skip your routine examinations! There are plenty of excuses for skipping a regular dental appointment: not enough time, hectic schedules and even dental anxiety, but these reasons pale in comparison to the incredible benefits of a six monthly checkup and hygienist visit.  When it comes to your oral health, (and remember, also your total health), the time it takes for your dental visits could be the difference between getting potentially life-saving treatment before it is too late.

Please share with friends and family

We were so excited to see Deana, Kyle, Ava and baby Mya this week when they popped in for their first Treetops visit since Deana left on maternity leave.

It was such a pleasure seeing Deana so happy and content with her beautiful new family, although at one point we thought Practice Manager Louise wasn’t going to hand baby Mya back!

Another fantastic patient Denplan Loyalty award!

We know how cost effective a Denplan membership is however we decided this month to put our money where our mouth is and calculate the savings ourselves. We were shocked to learn that for the whole of 2021, our Denplan loyalty award winner paid £359.00 in Denplan membership fees, however if she was treated on a private basis for this period she would of actually spent £850. So being a Treetops Denplan member saved £491.00!

This months winner had this to say:

I hear people complaining about the cost of dentistry and their 6monthly appointments, and really paying a bit each month has made me save so much money! So two things I would recommend is joining Treetops Dental Surgery and join Denplan, you’ll be pleased you did.

If you would like to know more about Denplan memberships and how budgeting monthly for your dental needs could work for you, just call our friendly reception team on 01902 842 555.

We are very excited to announce we have a new member of the Treetops Team.
Tilly the Treetops Tooth Fairy!Tilly is our new team mascot who will be on hand to help our young patients should they need her, providing advice on teeth cleaning routines and helping mums and dads with their children’s oral health.

Tilly is not always in the office as she is busy sorting out the strong and healthy teeth she has collected. Although if any of our young patients want to write an email to Tilly telling her how well they are cleaning their teeth, we are sure she will send a letter back with some oral health tips and a little present!

Here is Tilly`s email address if you would like to send her an email: assistant@treetopsdentalsurgery.co.uk

Fantastic and colourful use of ligatures with our fixed brace patient!

Ligatures can be any colour, why not go bold and showcase those braces!

Look at these fantastic examples of what can be achieved with enlighten teeth whitening!
Below is an example of how Invisalign dramatically transformed this patient’s smile…
The Treetops Team had a fantastic day at our recent Invisalign promotional morning. The day couldn’t of gone any better, our patients felt looked after and cared for and they even brought the sunshine with them!

As it was Dr Amandeep Bhambers first Invisalign Promotion he wanted to say a few words to convey his feelings of the day:

I had an absolutely fantastic, rewarding day.  Seeing our patients’ reactions when they realise what can be achieved with Invisalign is amazing.  I have never been happier to see patients on a Saturday morning! So many of our patients thought they would not be eligible for Invisalign but after an initial consultation we have discovered that they are eligible and are now embarking on their Invisalign transformation journey with us, which is fantastic and so exciting!  it just goes to show you only ever miss the chances you don’t take!

Here are just a few of pictures of our happy patients below..

These are a few of my favourite things

I love being a dentist. I love improving smiles. This is a big part of my “favourite things”. I have been a dentist for more than 25 years and have had an interest in orthodontics for 15. I love every aspect of my work!

So I thought I would like to share with you some of my favourite things!

1. Dealing with patient’s pain – and the relief they feel once that pesky toothache has eased off.
2. Fixing their teeth with fillings, inlays ,onlays and crowns – small things can make a huge difference.
3. Improving their Gum health (periodontics) with the help of my Hygienist colleagues and Periodontist colleagues.
4. Replacing missing teeth with dentures, bridges and with the help of my colleague and implant specialist  (Sanjeev, I am talking about you).
5. Saving almost hopeless teeth with endodontics. At times I also get help from my colleague for this (yes Chris Burn I am talking about you).
6. Improving patient smiles using Crowns, Veneers, Composite bonding and Orthodontics.

However if I were to be asked what my most favourite thing in dentistry is. Well, that obviously is Orthodontics. It is what I do most of.
Now you may ask yourself why orthodontics? You are basically moving teeth and bone slowly for some, on average 2 years. Rarely it can run into 5 years. Why would that be anyone’s favourite?
The answer is…. I am a people’s person. Even though I enjoy the technical part of Orthodontics, I absolutely love the fact that I am, more than any other part of dentistry, given the opportunity to get to know my patients so well. I get the pleasure of being on a journey with my patients, I see introverted patients open up. I see some children grow to the point that at the end of the journey I am looking upwards to them they have grown so tall!

Some patients have come in to the practice to see me years after their treatment to show me photos of their weddings, graduation and birthdays parties. I sometimes run into my ex-patients on the street and we have a lovely good old catch up on how they are doing and how their families are, I never forget a patient, even years later.  Orthodontics really is the gift that keeps on giving.
I also get asked what my favourite part of orthodontics is. Ironically this can also be the most bittersweet. It has to be that moment that you give your patient a mirror after they have had their braces taken off. Nothing compares, in all that I do in dentistry, to that moment. The look of pure joy, the smile so big you would need plastic surgery to remove it, the emotional tears of joy. I could go on and on.
However, it also comes with the bittersweet moment that you realise that there is a chance that, this person you got to know and like, you might never see again. But bittersweet moments also can be your proudest moments. You are gifting someone with something that will change the lives in a positive way. Nothing is better than that.
To all my ex-patients I just want to say that all of you are special to me and have made my life so much better too. So, if you see me around stop and say ‘Hello’. It would make me so happy to see you again!

Vis

This is Harry above, you may have seen his video testimonial which was posted on our Facebook and Instagram page after he completed his treatment last week. Harry had extensive orthodontics over a lengthy period and last week the Treetops team had the pleasure of telling him that he could finally have his fixed braces removed. Here is what he had to say…

Hi I’m Harry, I have been having braces here with Treetops for 5 years and Vis has been my dentist for most of that time and I am so happy with the work that he has done. I started off with top and bottom braces and a Helix expander at the top. The first couple of days were really difficult, it was very painful living off smoothies and I don’t know how to use a blender! After that It got very easy to manage, after the first couple of weeks you barely notice the braces are in, especially because of the good work they do here. Now after 5 years it basically became part of my mouth and having them off today just feels so amazing. I’m never going to stop smiling, and that is a testament to all the good work they’ve done for me at Treetops. Thank you to them and Thank you to Vis and I can’t wait to get out into the world with my new smile!

Check out Harry’s video on our Facebook page and see for yourself how happy Harry is with his new smile!

May Team Birthdays!

In the month of May we had two Team birthdays to celebrate

Dr Amandeep Bhamber (or Bhambi as he is affectionately known)
and Dental Nurse Kira (we say Dental Nurse but she is also our unofficial Receptionist and In-House Engineer!)!
Happy Birthday both!
During the month of May the category for the Treetops Employee of the month was, a colleague who their peers felt is the most innovative and best ‘go to’ problem solver. We are pleased to announce the winner was our super Practice Manager Louise White! Here are a few of the lovely comments Louise`s peers have made in their nominations:

Louise always tries to come to a solution to any problem. She thinks outside of the box, always looks on the positive side of things and is solution driven.
Louise always works hard behind the scenes with any problem given to her.
Louise is always there to help if there is a problem
Louise is usually my go to problem solver
Louise`s whole ethos as a team member is solution driven – she always looks for solutions and tried to find different options to make sure Treetops and our patients are always at the forefront of her decisions.

Well done Louise!

* You may notice Louise is wearing her clinical scrubs in this picture. Another day and another solution was found, we were short staffed so off came the suit and on went the scrubs!.

Failed To Attend Appointments

We do appreciate that life can sometimes get in the way and patients do not intentionally miss their appointments. Sadly, May has seen an increase in our failed to attend appointments; 106 missed appointments equating to approximately 38 hours of lost clinical time. We have already developed our system over time to help decrease this lost clinical time:

On booking your appointment you will receive either an email or text confirming your booking.

48 hours prior to your appointment you will receive a text or email as a gentle reminder. If you have 2 appointments booked on the same day, sadly the system will send out 2 emails in no specific order, so we would kindly ask you to check both messages.

To help our system be as efficient as possible, we would be so grateful if you would check when you are next in, that we have your most up to date mobile number and email address.

Thank you so much

The Treetops Team

The Queens Platinum Jubilee

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service what a fantastic achievement!

We hope you have had a fantastic bank holiday weekend celebrating our queen and that you all have a fantastic June ahead.
